Conjunto de Fortificações Coloniais do Brasil indicado para o Patrimônio Cultural da Humanidade
Our interest in attending seminars and congresses, national and international with the theme Brasilian Fortresses Ensemble indicated for the Cultural Patrimony of Humanity, is related to the dissemination of the symbolic value of Architecture & Military Engineering of the colonial period. The justification for the presentation of some relevant historical aspects - highlighting the importance of fortifications for the formation of our nationality - and of its different construction techniques is the lack of clarification / disclosure to civil society about the importance of "belonging" - that is , in the symbolic value of the colonial fortifications erected to "repel enemies" and which today, obsolete for military purposes, open to "receive friends". And, the moment is opportune because the Government of Brazil has indicated a set of nineteen (19) colonial fortifications to compete, as a series, for the title of World Cultural Heritage by UNESCO - United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization. Culture. The theme will be developed in four sequential topics: A - Historical and constructive reports: A1) the fortifications east of the imaginary line of Tordesillas (16th and 17th centuries), A2) the fortifications built in the 18th century, west of the said imaginary line and A3) the fortifications in the southern limit of the imaginary line of Tordesilhas (17th century); B - A singular "model" of restoration process; C - New Uses of cultural patrimony of military origin and, D - Results and propositions. This proposition closes with some personal conclusions and bibliographical references.
