Ruínas do Forte São Joaquim: o uso turístico e a preservação do patrimônio cultural
“In this dissertation we aim to understand how the use of cultural, social and sustainable tourism can be an instrument for the preservation, development and dissemination of a well protected, the ruins of Fort São Joaquim do Rio Branco, located in Bonfim, Roraima. This cultural - heritage constitutes as an archeological site, protected - by the Instituto do Patrimônio Histórico e Artístico Nacional-IPHAN, - and is listed- and inscribed in the book of - history , and in the book of archaeological, ethnographic and landscape.
Is the only cultural heritage protected by IPHAN, in Roraima, with an important national level. We discuss the relationship of public and tourist use of registered properties relating to military architecture, but also the process of recovery and tipping the Forte São Joaquim, from the actions of subjects involved, and research projects that have already been conducted on the ruins and the reasons of their abandonment, whereas tourist uses in some fortifications in Brazil. We also discussed the relationship between tourism, heritage and patrimony preservation, considering the forms of use of protected goods.
Finally, we seek to meet the memory that the roraimenses have about this historical testimony and its relation to these ruins, from conducting interviews with fifty-five individuals of society linked to the management of cultural and natural heritage, with researchers and teachers in the area of education and tourism, who had some involvement with the story of the preservation of the ruins of Fort São Joaquim to know your opinion about what would be the best use of the cultural heritage and its preservation.”
