A rede de fortificações na Amazônia brasileira: uma abordagem sobre a militarização (séculos XVII e XVIII)

This article briefly treats the organization of the network of fortresses in the Brazilian Amazon during the 17th and 18th centuries as an action by Portugal for the defense of space and land conquest in view of the invasions by other European nations. Furthermore, it seeks to roughly sketch how the process of hierarchical organization of the system of points which configured the present “territorial production” came about.
