A construção da governabilidade no Estado do Brasil: perfil social, dinâmicas políticas e redes governativas do Governo-Geral (1642-1682)

A new phase in the governance of the territories of the portuguese pluricontinental monarchy began with the ascension of the Bragança dynasty. In the State of Brazil this process has taken shape in the territorial reorganization of the jurisdictions, operated through the issuance and modification of the regiments of the general government and the governors of the captaincies of Pernambuco and Rio de Janeiro. In order to understand the governance, we specifically analyze the internal dynamics of the political action undertaken by the general-governors of the State of Brazil: internal political communication and appointment of the military officers and government officials. We also stress the importance of recovering the social profile and the trajectories of the general-governors as an element for the analysis of political action and the formation of social networks. We also carried out an exercise in the reconstruction of a government network based on the cross-referencing of the data of political communication of the general government and the appointment of officers, in order to identify the members and the forms of intervention of theses networks in the governance of the State of Brazil.
