O uso da taipa militar nas fortificações muçulmanas do actual território português

“From the early days, old civilisations of the Middle East used soil to build their edifices. Under Roman domination, the use of taipa became common in the Iberian Peninsula. However, it was only in the 12th century, with the Almohads from the North of Africa, that the technique spread across the south of the peninsula, where it has remained in countless military fortifications. In this work, the author analyses and compares the composition of the taipa used in the fortifications of Alcácer do Sal, Juromenha (Alandroal), Silves, Castelo Belinho (Faro-Portimão), Paderne (Albufeira) and Salir (Loulé).”
