Alistar para habitar os sertões. Os Corpos de Auxiliares e os Corpos de Ordenanças, no Estado do Grão-Pará e Maranhão (1750-1772)

This study sought to find some of the officers of the Auxiliary Troops and Ordinance Troops, the State of Grão-Para and Maranhão, showing its existence with the names of its officers. The result of research produced a monograph, which are presented and discussed in 598 military working four captaincy found in the documentation: Pará, Rio Negro, Maranhão and Piauí. We investigated correlations between the state and the mainland and the appointments of patents between 1750 and 1772. When we examine the context of the Treaty of Madrid in 1750, the Indian Directorate of 1755 and the administrative and military reform in the second half of the eighteenth century the Portuguese Overseas Empire, especially the measures of the Count of Lippe from 1760, as limit. The study sought to find the state's military, but not the absolute quantitative, because the first concern was whether these troops were effective in the state, finding the names and locations of exercise. We found only 246, or 41% of those appointed were indigenous, which showed that it is still necessary to relativize the relations between whites and Indians, and that the border was a fine line negotiated.
