Governadores Interinos: Cotidiano administrativo e trajetórias no Rio de Janeiro (c.1705 - c.1750)

This research aims to scan the colonial governors in the city of Rio de Janeiro in the space-time between the period of 1680-1763. It focuses on the study of the interim governors who were in charge of it in the absence or expulsion of the governors. Frequently, those ones as they arrived at the port of Rio de Janeiro, were in duty for a few months, and for regal determination were addressed to other captaincies of the State of Brazil, especially the captaincy of São Paulo and Minas Gerais. The research on the interim government peered agents in their trajectories in the Kingdom and in the colonies. Arriving at Rio de Janeiro port to perform various military functions their colonial experience made them to be selected to fill the interim government when the holder governors were absent because of illness or removal from office. From their experience in colonies, we observed the governance practices. Our work on the ways to govern the interim addresses among others, analyses the following subjects: smuggling, illegal business to far away ports of Rio de Janeiro and overlapping jurisdictions of royal authorities.
